Wondershare consists of a DVD to iPod Ripper and Video to iPod Converter program that you can access through a central program window. Wondershare provides an excellent assortment of features—more than some of our higher ranked products; however, we encountered ripping problems more frequently with Wondershare than our higher rated products, particularly when ripping Sony and Disney DVDs. We would love to see Wondershare work out some kinks and take one of our awards in the future. 

Features Set:  

Wondershare allows you to select the output dimensions, video quality and file size. You can convert DVDs by title and select the conversion start and stop time. When conversion is complete, you can instruct the computer to shutdown, open the output folder or load the video files to your iPod. You can also choose the output folder so you can easily locate your video files when you are ready to load them onto your iPod.

Our only real complaint with this software was it had a more difficult time ripping than some of our higher rated products. On at least three occasions during our test Wondershare failed to completely copy a DVD. However, when it did work it was great.   

Ease of Use:  

Each section of Wondershare’s iPod Video Suite has a Quick Start guide with straightforward instructions about how to convert a DVD to a video file. The program sections are also color coded to prevent confusion. The Video to iPod Converter is green and the DVD to iPod Ripper is blue. The menu options and program buttons are also easy to locate.

Quality of DVD:  

The picture and audio quality is high with a few minor distortions.

Quality of Video:  

The overall video quality is good, but slightly lower than the DVD quality. There are some distortions and occasional blurring.

Speed of Conversion:  

Wondershare’s conversion speed is impressive. The program converted a forty–minute DVD in less than twenty minutes.

Help/Support:  

The Wondershare iPod Video Suite includes a user’s manual and a short list of FAQs. You can also access live support or email the company from the help menu within the program. The Wondershare website has a large list of FAQs and you can find answers to support questions in their forum section.

Wondershare also has a Mac version.  

Summary:  

Wondershare has an excellent DVD to iPod conversion program. The conversion speed is fast and you can customize the video and audio output. Overall, the video quality is good, but lower than some of the other products we reviewed.
